If you've been following me for a while you know I'm all about empowering busy people to transform their bodies (and their lives) by fitting fitness into their busy schedules (not the other way around). Today I have a quick post for you and it's all about how to take your workout to the "next level" without adding any time to your routine or your day. 1. Be Unstable: Use your entire body, and target your core, by performing exercises that engage stabilizing muscles. To do this use an exercise ball, a balance board, a balance disc, or you could simply stand on one leg.
2. Add Resistance: I'm all about body-weight exercises because you can do them pretty much anywhere without any equipment. However, the more resistance that you incorporate with your routine translates into higher intensity and more calories burned. Some ideas for adding resistance include: carrying dumbbells while doing lunges, wearing a weighted vest while walking or jogging, or holding a kettlebell while doing squats. 3. Use Intervals: Interval training is an amazing tool for creating short yet effective workouts. Don’t worry, it’s not complicated. Interval training is simply alternating between different short bursts of activity.
